Saludos,

Barbaryta

I would imagine life is good in Buenos Aires, even after the collapse. Im seriously considering buying a one way ticket and moving to BA in October. How is the working situation over there for expats? I was thinking about finding work teaching english. I have a TEFL certificate, and a year and a half of experience. I also have a mas o menos command of spanish. Im sure the wages are pretty bad, but can you survive off them? I would be going over there with about 2 grand saved up to get me started. Any adivice or past experiences would be really helpful in getting me to definatively make up my mind, esecially from people whove done what Im thinking about doing.

Thanks,
Brian

Just to let people know, there are lots of jobs now in Buenos Aires.  You can easily work 20 hours a week and make enough money to live on.  If anyone wants any more information, just pm me.  Take care.

Hi all,
Among other things, Im considering a TEFL course by Bridge-Linguatec in Buenos Aires.  Several questions:
Is this a reputable school?
Is their conditional employment guarantee anything real or is it another marketing gimmick to lure students?
If the employment is indeed something real, what is the pay on average, and would you want to be working for them or are they another Wall Street/Berlitz-type place?

Thanks much,
Mike

Hola Argentina

My girlfriend and I are currently in Costa Rica and considering travelling down to Argentina to teach English in the New Year.

We are staying with a family in Costa Rica and have found a homestay to be a great way to become integrated into a community.

We have a few questions about Buenos Aires in Argentina:

1 ARe there homestays that people know of, any good places to look?
2 what is the cost of living like for the typical month?
3 What are the job prospects, we plan to arrive early February, and are hoping to find work for the start of March?
4 Do most jobs involve travelling to companies to teach, are there jobs where you teach in a classroom?

Muchos Gracias and Hola from Costa Rica
